If you are interested in becoming a personal trainer, you might need to get creative in motivating your clients to work out regularly. Here is an approach that might work with some people who don't do so well with traditional exercise sessions. Everybody knows that you need to exercise if you really want to be healthy or lose weight. Most people assume that exercise needs to be done in a gym. They prepare for a tedious hour to ninety minutes. They prepare to spend their exercise time in a room with lots of other people who share the same goal. They prepare to feel self conscious. What they don't prepare themselves for is actually liking the experience. While it is true that you need to exercise to lose weight and get healthy, there is no rule that says you can't choose to do something fun and that you enjoy. Why not try dancing? Dancing is an excellent workout. And with dance, you don't need to be led by an expert with a fitness trainer certification for you to get a good workout. An hour long dance class three times a week can work all of your muscles and really get your heart pumping. Even something like ballroom dancing can be good for muscle control, though you will probably have more success if you take on something like jazz dancing or ballet. Be honest: part of you has always enjoyed dancing-even if you only do it by yourself in the safety of your own home. This makes is a perfect workout for losing weight and getting healthy. Perhaps the best reason to pursue dancing as a weight loss activity is the enjoyment a person can get from the activity. You don't necessarily have to join a crowded dance class if you feel self conscious or uncoordinated. There are lots of dancing videos that you can buy or rent so that you can get your workout in at home. There are also dancing video games like Just Dance, Wii Cheer and the Dancing game for the Xbox Kinect system. Why not play around with some of these? You'll be more likely to get into it because you won't have to feel self conscious. You'll work up a sweat. You'll burn calories. Perhaps the most important reason to take on dancing as your workout activity is the enjoyment you can get from it. Dancing brings with it a level of enjoyment and amusement that most other forms of physical exercise do not. All exercise releases endorphins. Dancing is fun so it makes those endorphins seem even more powerful. Taking a dance class or trying out a dance video or game can also help you build your coordination. This will give you an improved sense of self confidence, which can carry over into other areas of your life. It's great for counteracting depression. Be honest with yourself. How many times have you sat through a movie with lots of dancing in it? How often have you watched wistfully and thought: "I should try that." How often have you thought "I wish I could do that"? You can do it! Not only is dancing great for your happiness levels, it is great for losing weight and it's great for your self confidence. Best of all? Dancing is fun.
